Laurels Night: Quaddie preview

The time honoured $72,500 Laurels final highlights racing at Sandown Park tonight.

Who do you think will win the Laurels? Have your say in our poll below.

For quaddie players there is a $10,000 jackpot with tab.com.au – first leg kicks off at 8.28pm. Haven’t had time to do the form? Check out Jason Adams’ quaddie preview below.

RACE 5 (LEG 1)
A tough way to kick off the quaddie with most of the field a winning chance if they bring their best. Andrea Doria is a classy type that can begin well however has Allen Punter on her outside does likes to drift to the rail. Helga Bale looks due for a win and has been beginning well, the concern is her strength at the end of the 515m.

Selections: 8 – 3 – 1 – 6

RACE 6 (LEG 2)
After two weeks of heats and semi-finals the country’s best young female greyhounds come together for the $72,500 Laurels final. This is a race full of early speed, especially from Striker Light, who in recent weeks has set blistering first splits of 4.97 and 4.97 –her second splits just as impressive, 18.60 and 18.61. Fanta Bale is the class runner in the race however may find trouble early. Fair Of Face on her inside likes to use the track early and Leave Me Out on her outside is desperate to find the fence – this means bad news for Fanta Bale. Pace will also come from Fearless Swan and Up Hill Jill – Poppy Pete is well drawn as she likes to stay wide. I don’t think they will be able to match the early speed of Striker Light, I expect her to lead and win.

Selections: 5 – 6 – 1 – 3

RACE 7 (LEG 3)
There’s a host of winning chances in the third leg. Resident Djay has set fast early splits in his last two starts at The Meadows, if he can repeat those efforts he will certainly be at the head of the field early. Coalville Tiger has shown good pace in his last two starts over the trip but has weakened late. Igor Karkaroff was outstanding last week over 515m, a repeated effort would see him going very close here.

Selections: 7 – 3 – 2 – 5

RACE 8 (LEG 4)
Weekend Binge holds the key to this race as we can rely on him to lead. Mepunga Tyler is probably his biggest danger, a very consistent type with a good record at the track. Pechey can set hot early tempo but whether she can run a winning time in this field is debatable. Bruce Tycoon holds the strength in the race but is poorly drawn.

Selections: 7 – 3 – 5 – 6

QUADDIE: 1,3,6,8 / 1,5,6 / 2,3,4,5,7 / 3,5,7 ($50 for 28%)
