Race With

Owning a racing greyhound can be an exhilarating experience.

No matter the standard of race your greyhound is competing in or how long you’ve been involved in the sport, it is always an enormous thrill watching your very own greyhound race for real prize money.

And the excitement levels only multiply when your greyhound is first to cross the finish line – whether you are watching it from your lounge room, at the TAB or at the racetrack with your mates – there’s nothing like that winning feeling!

In 2018 and 2019 we hosted a National Greyhound Draft which gave an opportunity for people to get involved in well bred greyhounds, who were reared and educated by some of the most highly respected people in Australia. Here’s how the group of each Draft performed.

2018 Draft
Of the 30 greyhounds in this Draft 28 raced and 26 won races. 14 of them are still actively racing – as of July 2021. Of the 30 greyhounds, 11 won on metropolitan tracks. They’ve combined for over 125 wins and over $420,000 in prizemoney.

2019 Draft
Of the 24 greyhounds in this Draft, 21 have raced with 17 already winning at least one race. Six of the greyhounds have won races on metropolitan tracks, including the likes of Green Blazer, a fast winner at both The Meadows and Sandown.

After their racing career, greyhounds make great pets! Visit gap.grv.org.au to learn the Greyhound Adoption Program and find out how you can make a greyhound part of your family!
