Unlawful Entry heads group 1 hopefuls

The country’s best 64 greyhounds hone in on group 1 glory this Thursday night with heats of the male greyhound only Harrison-Dawson and female only Sapphire Crown.

Greyhounds engaged in the four Harrison-Dawson heats have won in excess of $3.2 million. Track record holder Unlawful Entry heads the list of entrants and has drawn box 2 in the final heat. The unique brindle and white speedster returns to Sandown after running 3rd in last Wednesday’s Warrnambool Cup final.

Youngest greyhound in the series Ultimate Magic is one of three engaged for one of the state’s newest trainers Anthony Azzopardi. Major Jackpot and last start Warrnambool Cup winner Zambora Brockie compete the trio.

Bill Collins Speed Star winner Blazin’ Bomber has drawn favorably in box 1 in the first heat, and has opened as the $4.80 favourite for the series with tab.com.au.

Shared Equity has opened the $6.50 equal favourite for the Sapphire Crown, alongside Queensland’s Outside Pass and the oldest greyhound in the series Nymeria. Shared Equity is veteran of 12 group finals and boasts as the fastest personal best of her rivals with 29.22.

Seven New South Wales trained greyhounds will venture south chasing a share in the $370,000 in prize money, including last start group 3 Ladies Bracelet winner Zipping Lilly, Maitland track record holder Old Spice and group 2 Laurels winner Fantastic Skye.

TAB is offering a $2500 first four jackpot on all of the heats.

Thursday night is also the second week of the Top Dog Tipping competition, details can be found here.

Box draws for both finals will be conducted on-course and will be streamed live on Periscope via @sandowndogs.

It promises to be a cracking night of greyhound racing and will serve as the perfect entrée for next week’s RSN927 Sandown Cup heats.
