Trainers are advised of the following changes to race and trial sessions during the renovations to the Sandown Park kennel block.
The kennel block was first opened to much fanfare in 1995, however the current works are the first major upgrades to the complex since that time. The scope of the works includes:
– Replacement of the 96 racing kennels
– Installation of an additional swab/race night trial bay
– Installation of secure isolation/quarantine kennels
– New flooring
– Upgrade of the vet and stewards rooms
Works are expected to take approximately 12 days meaning the club will be unable to race during this time. As a result, the following race meetings have been transferred:
– Sunday 19 June to Cranbourne
– Thursday 23 June to The Meadows
– Sunday 26 June to Sale
The Club will also be taking this opportunity to conduct maintenance on a the track and racing infrastructure, including:
– A deep harrow of the track
– Topping up the sand in the catching pen
– Various additional maintenance items
To ensure these works are completed, the club will not be trialling on Wednesday 22 June or Saturday 25 June. Trailing will resume as normal on Wednesday 29 June ahead of the resumption of racing on Thursday 30 June.
Participants are also advised that the next phase of construction is set to commence at the Sandown Veterinary Clinic. These works will involve the demolition of the old racing club buildings currently used for storage and construction of a new car park. Demolition works are expected to take approximately two weeks, and alternative access and parking arrangements are in place.
