Thursday night race meetings at Sandown Park will begin an hour earlier this winter.
During the trial period, the first race will commence at just after 6pm with the final race to jump prior to 10pm.
The change has been made with participant welfare in mind, helping participants avoid peak hour traffic on their way to the track, and getting them home an hour earlier during the coldest time of the year. By shifting the race meeting in a more patron friendly timeslot, it is also hoped the move will improve the on course experience for those at the track.
Race 1 will jump at 6.02 this Thursday night with kennels to open at 4.47pm and close at 5.32pm. Gates will open at 5pm with the dining room and snack bar will be open from 5.30pm. Happy hour will now run from 5pm until 7pm.
