She’s All the Talk

IAT in flightIt’s All Talk dominated her semi final of the Laurels yesterday and comes in to this Thursday’s final as one of the favourites.

Trained by Angela Galea and her father Martin, It’s All Talk is undefeated in seven starts and was equally as dominant in her heat last week.

“We didn’t really have a chance to trial her at Sandown after Healesville but I wasn’t worried about her running a strong 515m – when she runs next to the car she could run all day,” said Martin Galea.

Galea has been training greyhounds for 40 years and believes It’s All Talk is the without doubt the best to enter his Sunshine North kennel.

“She’s been very smart from day one, when we first trialed her with her brother she led by five and ran very wide on the track, her brother come up the inside and she pushed him away then beat him by five lengths.

“We’ve never had a greyhound like her – she is something special. She’s quiet at home, she enjoys the car ride and when she comes out of the kennels she knows exactly what she needs to do.”

It’s All Talk’s success is all but more special as she was bred by the Galea family, after a good friend gave them Fainting Fancies to breed with after her racing career.

“A friend of mine Ian Cockerell trained her, once she finished racing he gave her to us to breed with. I’ve known Ian since he was 16 years old, he used to catch my dogs,” laughed Galea.

Galea has had a recent bout of poor health but has a positive prognosis for Thursday’s $50,000 to-the-winner final.

“I’ve had some health issues and lucky to be alive, I’ve been battling a kidney stone but I’ve got no worry with her. She just explodes out of the boxes, cut hard to the rail and put pressure on the inside dogs.”

Other semi final winners on the day were Iyliss Bale, Sweet Barbados and Polijuice Potion. Box draw can be found below.

The group 2 Laurels isn’t highlight of this Thursday night’s racing at Sandown Park, including the appearance of eight time group 1 winner Fernando Bale who returns for the first time since his Melbourne Cup defeat.
