The connections each winning greyhound Sandown Park tonight will receive an added bonus – a free straw to dual group 1 winner Spud Regis.
Spud Regis (Bombastic Shiraz x Phiona) made his debut in July 2012 and over the next two years, raced 48 times for 18 wins and 14 minor placings to amass over $460,000 in prize money.
The highlight of his career came in the 2013 Australian Cup which he won in race record time. That win came six months after announcing himself as one of the country’s top sprinters by taking out the group 1 Adelaide Cup. He competed in four group 1 finals during his career, as well as winning the group 3 Ambrosoli at Wentworth Park.
Blessed with exceptional early pace, Spud Regis recorded top grade wins at Sandown Park, The Meadows, Wentworth Park, Angle Park and Cannington.
Spud Regis is the son of Hall of Fame greyhound Bombastic Shiraz, and is from a litter of 10 pups – all of whom won on the track – and combined to collect $715,000 in prize money.
