Missile on target

Jeff Britton believes Mepunga Missile is the best of his five chances at Sandown Park tonight.

Speaking to Adam White and Daniel Harford on the RSN Breakfast Club’s Early Mail, Britton said that despite his quirks, he expects a strong showing from the son of Premier Fantasy.

“He’s drawn where he wants to be.

“He’s bit of a duffer – he can blow the start – but he’ll keep on railing and be strong to the line so I think he should go well.”

Mepunga Missile is a $2.90 chance with tab.com.au.

Here’s how Britton assessed his other four chances on the card:

Race 2 – (1) Westar Aileen, $3
“She’s where she wants to be. She’s still very young and I’m hoping she gets around that first corner but she’s very strong to the line.”
Race 6 – (8) My Girl Kizzy, $23
“She’s draw out in the car park and will struggle to get across. If you took Immunity out I’d say it’s an easy race but she looks a certainty.”
Race 7 – (5) Weblec Diamond, $15
“She had her first 600m last week. She ran a good race but this is a bit harder and she’s not drawn well. We’re still learning to see how well she goes over the 600m but as I said, she ran a good race last week.”
Race 12 – (5) Weblec Pearl, $4.60
“She’s been a bit tardy early but she does show some ability. I haven’t had her long, so I’m hoping she gets a clear run and she’ll be some sort of chance.”

Immunity remains a solid $1.60 favourite for the group 2 Laurels Classic (race 6). The fastest qualifier for the series has won 11 of 14 career starts including three of five at Sandown Park.
