It’s the final day for Speed Star qualification!
15 greyhounds will trial between races today, each aiming to earn a place in the $190,000 match race series on Sunday 5 May.
Here’s what you need to know.
What is it: The Speed Star is a match race series that brings together the fastest greyhounds in the country, racing in two dog match races and against the clock
How to qualify: Is based on times recorded at Sandown Park from 1 January. Times may be set in a race, a satisfactory trial, or official Speed Star qualification trial
Qualification trials: Are conducted between races under full race conditions, including normal kennelling procedures
The match races: The 8 fastest nominations over each distance qualify for the a $50,000 series on Sunday 5 May. The next fastest 16 qualifiers over 515m will compete in two, $20,000 consolation series
