Tonight Neo Cleo begins her RSN927 Sandown Cup campaign stepping up to the 715m for the first time in a heat of GRV’s Super VicGreys series.
The rise in distance follows back-to-back wins over 595m where she has hit the line with strength.
“She ran up to the time I expected her to run (34.21), I was very happy with her,” said trainer Rob Neocleous following last Thursday’s win.
“I’ll give her a go and see if she handles it well. You never know until you try them over it, but she pulls up great after ‘600’s – I expect she will go well.”
Although the RSN927 Sandown Cup is the main goal, we may also see Neo Cleo compete in Speed Star. She sits 13th on the Racecallers (595m) standings and will aim to make an impact on the Lizrene (715m) line up tonight.
“We’ll see how she goes over the next couple weeks, if she goes well we’ll be having a go.”
Star New South Wales stayer Ebby Ripper will trial after race 1 tonight over 715m under Speed Star conditions. We’ll be streaming live on Twitter @sandowndogs – click here for current Speed Star standings
