Fast5 – 22 June 2017

Sandown’s hottest sprinter this season Black Mumbo aims for five wins in a row, while it’s ladies night (of sorts) tonight. That and more in this week’s Fast5 preview.

1. Pace to burn
Not many greyhounds have shown the consistent early speed that Beanbag (race 5) has shown in her last three starts. Her splits at the last three starts have been 5.05, 5.05 and 5.04 and she’s led clearly on each occasion but has been caught on the line each time, beaten a total of seven lengths across the three races.

2. When the stars align…
Leopardstown (race 4) doesn’t win out of turn – he’s won 8 of his 67 career starts and just once in 10 starts over this track and distance. That win was run in an impressive 41.96, two lengths faster than any of tonight’s rivals have gone before.

3. Ladies Night
Exciting night for the Shades Of Syndicate when Shades Of Lippy becomes their first metropolitan starter in race 2. Owned by a syndicate of over 30 women – many first time greyhound owners.

4. Any where in the middle
Where Art Thou (race 7) returns to Sandown Park for the first time since her win over the trip on 8/12/16. The versatile NSW chaser has raced over distances from 474m to 720m, but it’s over the middle distance that she has excelled. She has win 15 over her 34 career starts but is undefeated in five starts between 590m to 618m.

5. Hey Mumbo
Black Mumbo keeps on keeping on, making it four top grade wins on the bounce last Thursday night. He’s now missed a place just once in 13 starts over Sandown’s 515m trip. Interestingly, despite his dazzling performances over the last month, his fastest time for the trip remains 29.25 recorded when running second to Bewlidering in the Bill Collins Speed Star.

Around the Australia
The carnival continues at Albion Park with the $36,000 Superstayers tonight’s feature. The four dog invitational based on our own Shootout sees group 1 winner Burn One Down make his first appearance in the Sunshine State where he will take on Cup Night Stayers winner Ebby Ripper and local stars Cyndie’s Magic and Big Easy Red. Race 8 will jump at 9.13pm, click here for your form guide.

The good thing: Beanbag (race 5 number 1)
Each way all day: Fifteen Two (race 11 number 2)
