Ladies racing to the City of Light

The profile of the country’s only racing series restricted to Lady Trainers, the Judy Hayley Memorial, will raise further in 2014 with a participating trainer to receive a trip for two to Paris valued at $20,000.

The prize includes return business class flights for two, seven nights accommodation, day tours and $5000 spending money.

Restricted to lady trainers only, Judy Hayley Memorial is named in honour of the Melbourne Cup winning trainer who lost her brave battle with cancer in 2012. Trainers are restricted to one greyhound per heat and must handle their own greyhounds for both heat and final.

Each trainer who participates in the series will receive one entry into the draw for the trip to Paris, with the winner to be drawn during the club’s gala Ladies Night on Thursday 27 February 2014.

In 2013, the Judy Hayley Memorial was run on the club’s ’50 Shades of Greyhounds’ Ladies Night that featured a fashion parade, premium wine tasting, massages, make up and beauty treatments and displays featuring jewellery, tarot card readings, lingerie and live music throughout the night.

It was also the culmination of the month long ‘Go The Pink Dog’ campaign that raised over $55,000 for the McGrath Foundation to assist in their work in placing breast care nurses in communities throughout the country.

The club has already has plans for a bigger and better Ladies Night in 2014. No doubt lady trainers everywhere will be making plans too – and updating their passports!

The prize money increase is one of three announcement made by the club, including
– increasing the prize money for the 2014 RSN Sandown Cup to $250,000, and
– the introduction of the Sandown Triple Crown
