Freakish Western Australian stayer Miata claimed her fourth Group 1 title of 2012 with a thrilling victory in the $145,000 Group 1 Bold Trease at Sandown Park tonight.
The $1.50 favourite began fairly but lost an early speed battle with Jethro ($4.20) as the former Tasmanian opened up a six length lead passing the post the first time.
Miata closed to within four lengths of Jethro down the back straight, and with the massive crowd cheering her on, the future Hall Of Famer swept past Jethro to claim her first win at Sandown Park since May.
He Knows Uno was gallant in third, a further three quarters of a length away third.
Her time of 41.79 seconds was 0.01 seconds faster than her heat win the previous week to improve her record to 34 wins from 41 starts, and take her career prize money to $551,258.
