Track record tumbles -again

Exciting youngster Cape Hawke set a Sandown Park 515m track record on Saturday night, stopping the clock in a stunning 29.13 seconds.

Just two days after Heston Bale lowered the previous time standard to 29.14 seconds, Cape Hawk gave his rivals a galloping lesson, racing to a 10 length win in the third race of the night.

Trained by Jamie Ennis in Lara, the son of Where’s Pedro improved his career record to eight wins from 11 starts – including the last five on end. Cape Hawke’s next assignment will be a Solo Melbourne Cup Prelude on Thursday 22 September.
