Sunset Spitfire favourite for Harrison-Dawson

Sunset Spitfire has been installed the $4.50 all in favourite for the Harrison-Dawson after drawing well in box 2 for his heat on Thursday night.

The star Western Australian – a winner of 14 of 15 career starts including all 10 starts over 520m at Cannington – rounded out his preparations for the group 1 series with an impressive 29.25 exhibition trial between races last Thursday. He’ll line up in arguably the toughest of the four heats along with the brilliant Equalizer and Tiggerlong Tonk, both of which are rated $8 chances in the series

Other runners in single figures include Shima Shine ($5), Fernando Bluey ($8) and Lakeview Walter ($8) showing the depth and quality across the four heats.

The Sapphire Crown is also a wide open affair with Shima Classic ($5) heading the all-in market ahead of Immunity ($6), Highly Explosive ($8) and Vickis Queen.

The winner and runner up from each heat will progress to their respective finals on Thursday 20th May where a $100,000 cheque awaits the victor.

The Harrison-Dawson heats make up Thursday night’s quaddie with TAB projecting a $125,000 pool.

The first of 12 races, the first Sapphire Crown heat, will jump at 6.04pm.
