Speed Star trial day 1 results

The much anticipated opening day of Speed Star trials took place at Sandown Park this afternoon.

Equalizer was the focus of many fans attention, the prevailing though that a time in the low 29 second range – or faster – was on the cards. However any hopes of a near record run were dashed with a slow getaway leading to a poor 5.29 first split. His elite run home of 10.39 helped him post a time of 29.184 and enough for equal seventh place in the standings.

Over 595m, Western Australian star Zack Monelli had his first look at the track and ran 33.840, good enough to move into fourth place in the standings.

Track record holder Here’s Tears was also in action, running the fastest 715m trial – 41.779 – and move into 5th place for the Lizrene Speed Star.

See below for full replays of each trial.
