Envy To Burn Burnett’s best

David Burnett rates up and comer Envy To Burn the best of his four chances at Sandown Park tonight.

Envy To Burn has won three of his four starts and while he is stepping up to 515m for the first time, Burnett told the RSN Breakfast Club that not only was Envy To Burn his best chance tonight, but that a start in the $420,000 Launching Pad series is on his agenda.

“He’s a nice pup by an American sire (Superior Product) and I just haven’t worked him out yet,” he said.

“But he’s done everything right and he’s a very good chance (tonight). He’s come through the kennel in the last month in bit of rush to be ready for the Launching Pad where we’ll see what he’s made of.

“He ran really well at Warrnambool at his third start (winning in 21.93) and then last week ran 25.69 at Geelong. He’s putting everything together – this is his biggest test tonight and hopefully he acquits himself well.”

Envy To Burn is the $2.25 favourite with TAB in race 3 tonight.

Here’s what David (pictured above with his retired champion Simon Told Helen) had to say about his other runners engaged at Sandown Park:

Race 1 box 4 – Wedding Or Baby ($4): “Named by my now daughter in law who wasn’t sure last year whether to have a baby or get married due to COVID. Turns out she ended up getting married and having a baby which was a good result. He’s a nice pup, just taking his time to put it together. He ran a nice time at The Meadows a couple of runs back (30.21) and he should acquit himself well in that race.”

Race 5 box 5 – War Widow ($6): “The box is against her and it’s a big challenge for her to go around the 515m. She ran 25.25 at Ballarat a couple of months ago, but she’s probably my worst option tonight.”

Race 9 box 3 – Capture Bart ($5.50): “Just a good old plodder. He’s run a place in his last three starts and he’ll be right in amongst it again tonight. Hopefully his run last week just gave him a little more confidence for this week and he might be able to sneak one.”

Also racing at Sandown Park tonight is nine-time group 1 finalist and Sandown Park specialist Tiggerlong Tonk ($1.65) in race 4, while group 1 Silver Chief winner Lakeview Walter ($1.65) will line up for what is likely to be his final hit out before also tackling the Launching Pad.

The first of 10 races will jump at 6.49pm.
