Tickets for the 2021 Launching Pad have sold out.
The last of the 64 slots in the $420,000 sweepstakes event sold this morning, three weeks before the close of nominations.
“We’re delighted to see so much continued support for the Launching Pad,” said Sandown Chairman, Neil Brown.
“It’s a fantastic series for young and emerging greyhounds and, as the name suggests, is a chance to really launch their careers.”
Restricted to greyhounds with 1-6 wins and no more than 30 starts, the Launching Pad has seen some of the sport’s biggest names graduate through past series. While the honour roll features Tauwitchere (2019), Beast Unleashed (2018), Suffragette (2017), Buck Forty (2016) and Usain I’m Nutty (2015), group 1 winners to have contested the Launching Pad include Dundee Osprey, Thirty Talks, Mepunga Blazer, Quick Jagger, Raw Ability, Worm Burner, Dyna Patty, My Redeemer, Tornado Tears and Sennachie.
A Launching Pad ‘Qualifying Series’ will be run at Sandown Park for greyhounds with 1-4 wins (heats on Sunday 7 March, final on Thursday 11 March) with the winner of the final to receive a ticket to the Launching Pad.
Entry Forms to the series are transferrable until midday on Monday 15 March. Those looking to obtain a ticket are encouraged to contact the club to be advised of any Entry Forms that become available.
