Kuro Kismet to spell before Launching Pad

Kuro Kismet is one of the leading contenders for next month’s Launching Pad series and he further confirmed that status with a hot win at Sandown Park last night.

He began well and used box 8 to perfection to accelerate and control the race early. He took off to set a fast 18.66 back split and completed the 515m in 29.19 – comfortably the fastest time of the night.

The win was the sixth of his career which now means he is on the fringe of eligibility for the $420,000 series with it open to greyhounds with 1-6 wins and no more than 30 starts.

“He will be freshened up over the next 2-3 weeks. He’s had a couple of trips to Sydney and hasn’t missed a place in his last 10 runs so he’s earned a rest,” revealed trainer Matt Clark on Twitter this morning.

Kuro Kismet has won or placed in 14 of his 18 starts.

“He’s as good as any I’ve previously trained and I’m thrilled for the owner Melissa Mayle and her father Bruce.”

Part-owner Mel Mayle followed up with praise for Clark and ‘Sox’.

“He’s an absolute credit to all the work you have done with him. Teaching him how to race smarter, better and learn his craft. He gives it back with that big heart of his with how hard he tries every time he gets out there on the track.”

Of the other winners on last night’s card there are a host who are currently eligible for the Launching Pad – Negasi Bale, Mepunga Reject, King Of Calypso, Shima Glow, Invictus Jaxson, Thursday Knight and Omega Tyson.

As of 9am this morning (Friday) there are just eight Launching Pad entries remaining for purchase. The three-week series begins on Thursday March 18.
