Clark eyes off Launching Pad

Matt Clark is counting down the weeks until the Launching Pad series after one of his main hopes Kuro Kismet won well last night at Sandown Park.

Kuro Kismet began cleanly and took control of the race down the back straight. He held off the gallant How Not Too to win by 2L in 29.30 – the best time of the night.

“He was cost a bit of ground as they turned down the back and has still set the time he has – I’m rapt,” said Clark post-race.

The Launching Pad was quickly mentioned as Kuro Kismet’s main target. He looks the strongest chance of multiple greyhounds Clark has earmarked for the $420,000 series.

His night at the office went to another gear later on when Kuro Kismet’s kennelmate Kismet Storm easily won night’s penultimate event, another who is Launching Pad bound.

“He’s not as quick as Kuro Kismet, however he is more of a reliable beginner.”

The duo are owned by Melissa Mayle (pictured with Matt Clark and Kuro Kismet) who had handling duties on the night.

“It’s been great for Bianca (wife) and I to team up with Mel, she’s a lovely person who just adores her dogs. We’re looking forward to the ride ahead.”

The Launching Pad series kicks off on Thursday March 18 and is restricted to greyhounds with 1-6 wins and no more than 30 starts. A limited amount of entries are available for purchase. Click here for all Launching Pad information
