Whelan team on target for Launching Pad

Team Whelan’s road to the Launching Pad was highlighted on Thursday by the impressive win of Lakeview Cruiser in the Sale to Sandown restricted win final.

In his first outing at Sandown Park he led and won in a good time of 29.46, it was the third win of his career and looks to be developing into a handy sprinter.

“It’s been a very exciting ride so far,” said trainer Harley Whelan about their whirlwind past few months.

“He’ll (Lakeview Cruiser) be going towards the Launching Pad probably along with Lakeview Max.”

The superstar of their team is Lakeview Walter who won the G1 Feikuai Greyhounds Silver Chief at The Meadows two weeks ago.

They are hoping he can gain a start in the upcoming Temlee then possibly be held back to stay within the boundary of the 1-6 win condition for the Launching Pad.

The series will see the best young sprinters in Australia compete for $420,000 in prize money.
