Mackie holds the cards

Brett Mackie joined RSN’s Early Mail this morning to discuss his two runners at Sandown Park tonight.

Both are tipped by The Watchdog and likely to start favourite in their respective races.

Race 1, 1. Ivy Isobel ($2.40 with TAB)

“She’s been racing without luck and beaten in very fast time. We’re hoping she jumps ok and importantly begins ahead of Golden Skyrocket and gets a clear run,” explained Mackie.

“She’s more suited to box 1 on the two turn tracks (one being Sandown Park) than she is on a one turn track.”

Race 2, 1. Bull’s Roar ($2 with TAB)

“It’s a positive (being drawn in box 1) especially in city class racing. He’s jumping a lot more consistently now, it’s a strong field but he’s well graded in it.

Co-host Nick Quinn suggested a multi with Ivy Isobel to place and Bull’s Roar to win.

“I’d be happy with that.”

The night’s opener kicks off at 6.42pm.
