Camilleri’s high opinion of Run Like Jess

Rob Camilleri has a very high opinion of recent kennel acquisition Run Like Jess.

The Lara based bought bought the son of Fernando Bale along with prominent owner Tim Aloisi. Run Like Jess joined the kennel having won 10 of his 36 starts. He turned in an eye catching debut for the kennel last Sunday running a slick 29.25, and is currently rated a $1.95 chance with TAB to win race 7 tonight.

“We have a very high opinion of him,” Camilleri told the Early Mail on RSN Breakfast.

“Tim Aloisi has a very good eye for a dog. We are looking at a 600m/700m career for him and last Sunday he went phenomenally. To do what he did with the preparation he had – he wouldn’t blow out a candle after the race.

“I don’t want to jinx the dog but if he does what he did on Sunday he’s going be hard to roll.”

Camilleri will be hoping for a kennel quinella with exciting pup Papi Go Fast in the same race. The just-turned two year old is yet to miss a place after 15 career starts – 12 of them wins – and ran second to Shamrock Boy in the $35,500 Provincial Plate on TAB Melbourne Cup night last Friday.

“Papi Go Fast is only a young dog who’s just learning the caper over 500m. He blew the start last week and still ran second first look at the track so we expect him to improve a fair bit today.”

Camilleri also gave the unlucky Kipling a chance in race 4. After twice running second in quick time at Sandown Park earlier in the month, he ran fifth to Eagles Nest Egg last Friday night in the third fastest grade 5 ever run.

“He’s just one of those dogs. When he nails the start, he’ll run really quick first two sectionals and he’ll pinch a few of these sorts of races. But he’s got to nail the start, it’s pretty hard for him to come from behind.

“If it’s not tonight, it’ll be very soon – he’s due to nail one. It’d be nice if it was tonight.

Camilleri’s partner, Deb Coleman, has he TAB Melbourne Cup finalist Zipping Sullivan engaged in race 8 where he will meet fellow Cup finalist Tough Tears.

Other notable runners from Cup night engaged in tonight’s meeting include group 3 Sir John Dillon Memorial winner Weblec Ace (race 6), and VicBred Maiden winner She’s So Kind (race 3).
