Heats build up on RSN: The best bits


RSN’s Racing Pulse and RSN Central was live from Sandown Park yesterday as part of the build up towards Friday’s TAB Melbourne Cup heats.

Plenty of guests joined the coverage throughout the morning to discuss the expectations of key chances, share their Cup story and most importantly have some fun!

One of the better known greyhounds across the country is WA’s Tommy Shelby and he paid visit along with Kel Grenough and Steve Withers.

Brenton Avdulla is best known for his deeds as a G1 winning jockey but also owns Fernando Hunter, a promising greyhound who had won all three of his career starts before defeated last night at Ballarat.

Three-time Cup winning trainer Jason Thompson has played a huge part in TAB Melbourne Cups in recent years and this edition is no different. He discussed each of his seven runners in the heats, the preparation into a Cup series and as well a mystery caller!

Mick McGuane was a premiership player for Collingwood back in 1990 but it was the year prior we were most interested in. He won the Melbourne Cup with Fair Sentence and it sounds like the celebrations were quite something!

GRV Chair Peita Duncan and Sandown Park Chairman Neil Brown joined the coverage to discuss all things greyhound racing and specifically TAB Melbourne Cup!

Mick Floyd and Jason Adams joined Gareth Hall (pictured with Tommy Shelby) to dive into Friday’s card and discuss the highlights.

Friday is set to be a stunning night of racing, the best of the best doing battle in heats of the world’s greatest race the TAB Melbourne Cup. They will be supported by three heats of the G1 Bold Trease for the stayers.
