Houdini Boy and Tommy Shelby trial

Kel Greenough trained duo Houdini Boy (pictured left) and Tommy Shelby (pictured right) both trialled after the last at Sandown Park tonight.

Houdini Boy was the most impressive of the two as he flew in a handslip trial setting an ultra fast 22.61 with a frightening run home of 10.08.

“He’s getting back into his work, he trialled up the straight at Healesville on Wednesday and then here tonight,” said Greenough.

“His run home time obviously says he’s going well and now we’ve got to work out what’s next. The Shootout is an option, but we’re also keen on the Bold Trease. A ‘500’ metre run a week before the Bold Trease heats wouldn’t be perfect, so we’ve got to sit down and have a think about it.”

West Australian star Tommy Shelby set a time of 29.48 (5.15, 18.77) in his final test before Saturday’s Topgun at The Meadows.

“I thought he would go better but it’s his first look here. He might be a dog that thrives on the competition and goes better in races.”

Tommy Shelby is exempt into TAB Melbourne Cup heats having won the WA Sprint Championship in August.

Earlier in the day up-and-coming sprinter Immunity set the track alight with a 10 length romp in 29.13 – the 6th fastest of 2020. Her win was the fastest at provincial grade since kennel mate Hooked On Scotch went 29.09 in August last year.
