Little v Ennis – RSN Punting Challenge Week 1

A new punting challenge kicked off on RSN’s Form Express today between pro-punter Troy Little and multiple Group 1 winning trainer Jamie Ennis.

The pair are good mates and have ignited a punting rivalry. Each Thursday they will get $100 to spend in any way they like on the night’s racing.

“The aim of the game is to tip winners and make us money,” explained Gareth Hall, host of RSN Central.

Ennis was the first cab off the rank and started off with a left field selection, a first starter in the last race at the Penrith trots.

“I want to get some value here, I’m going to put a multi on. Am I allowed to swap venues?

“We’re going to Penrith with Our Bella Lucia, into Durant at Sandown. We’ll try to get that multi up and get a kick start on Troy.

“Durant’s owner is my wife Brooke and she’s had a look at the form. She knows what he’s trialled and has put the pressure on, she must want to go out and buy some new shoes on the weekend.”

Reins were handed over to the “king of the punt” Troy Little.

“He’s never lacked confidence old mate (Jamie). We’ll see how we go.

“The first bit of the $100, we’re going to have an each-way bet on Idria Bale. She can cross Nangar Rippa straight away and get on the fence. She represents some value each way.”

He went the way of Zipping Magda for the second leg of his multi.

Jamie Ennis also commented on his other runners engaged at Sandown Park tonight.

Race 10, 6. Paddy Lee
“He’s probably going to need the run, he might charge to the front early. I’d be wary at short odds.”

Paddy Lee is named after and part-owned by a well known harness racing trainer, Gareth Hall described him as “the number one dairy farmer in harness racing and a wonderful horseman”.

Race 1, 4. Mullion Mayor
“He was ultra impressive last week, he only ran half a length slower than the Free-For-All. It’s an awkward draw as the greyhound in box 3 (Mr. Bar Wicked) does like to use the track. If he can handle that early and get to the fence he’ll be hard to beat. He’s racing well and he’s a nice dog in the making.”

Mullion Mayor (4) terrific last week
