Luck lies with uncle Jimmy

Jimmy Redenbach accepted a call up to handle Fat Rhino last night and he proved the lucky charm, as Rhino saluted at odds of $12.

Nephew of Jimmy, Christian Redenbach, is the trainer of Fat Rhino however he also had a runner engaged at Shepparton on the night – Rocket Jax who ran 3rd.

“About three days ago Christian called me and said he had a runner at Shepparton, I was happy to help him out by coming to Sandown on his behalf,” said Redenbach.

“He proceeded to say you will have a good talk to the dog and he would probably win. And that’s what I did!” he laughed.

“It didn’t matter what I said to the dog, Christian has done all of the work and deserves the win. I’m kicking myself that I didn’t have $20 on.”

When asked what Christian’s first reaction would be he said “I don’t know, he will just be thankful and happy that the dog has gone well.”

On a side note, Jimmy mentioned his kennel star Shadale will be heading towards the Cranbourne Cup heats on Saturday February 2.

Later in the night Black Impala returned to the winners list in his first visit to Sandown Park since he was runner-up in the Bold Trease. The win came first up for his new trainer Joe Borg.

In the race following Beckham produced the run of the night, he came from last to run down a good field stunning the crowd on-course.
