‘Big V’ to the fore for National Championships


Victoria’s fastest chasers will take to Sandown Park this Thursday night for the state heats of the Crocmedia National Championships.

The four heats of the Crocmedia National Sprint series boasts five group 1 winners including last start Maturity winner and Speed Star champion Dyna Patty, as well as Hecton Bale, Elevated, Striker Light and Up Hill Jill. The runners across the four heats combined for over $4.3m in prize money highlighting the quality of the heats.

Meanwhile in the Crocmedia National Distance series, the biggest name in Australian greyhound racing Torando Tears will be aiming to maintain his unbeaten run over the Sandown ‘half-mile’ when he lines up in race 3, while his litter-mate and highest ranked Greyhound Clubs Australia stayer Rippin’ Sam will line up in race 4.

The winner and runner up in the Sprint heats and first four in the Distance heats will progress to the respective Victorian final. The winner and runner up from those finals will represent ‘The Big V’ at the Crocmedia National Sprint Championship, also at Sandown Park.

The heats of each state’s heats of the Crocmedia National Championship will also be run this week with the finals to be run Thursday 9 August on what will be showcase of greyhound racing from across the nation.

The final of the Crocmedia National Championships will be run at Sandown Park on Friday 24 August.
