Young gun Tritt Tritt returns after lay off

Promising stayer Tritt Tritt (pictured with Brooke Ennis) returns to racing tomorrow night after a seven week spell.

He was scratched from the group 1 Association Cup in March, he then won impressively at Sandown Park before debuting over 715m. He had two unplaced runs over the distance which led to him missing out on the RSN Sandown Cup series.

“It was disappointing for us and the owner, but we’re just happy to get him back,” said trainer Brooke Ennis.

“He pulled up a little sore in his hock from his run (Association Cup heat) in Sydney, we scratched from the final then he went over ‘600’ and went well, we then we put him over ‘700’ in grade 5 heats and he pulled up a bit sore again.”

The soreness led to the spell where ‘Buckets’ has enjoyed some ‘R&R’ and is now set to return to the track. He’s engaged in race 5 tomorrow night over 515m, a distance he’s seen just twice at the track.

“He’s had a couple of trials but he’s a dog that really needs racing, he gets a bit over the top and excited. It will be a few starts before we seem him back to his best.

“We’ll just be happy for him to get a clean run and get around safely.”
