My Redeemer faces toughest test in Harrison-Dawson

My Redeemer has quickly raced his way to the top echelon of the state’s male sprinters, though faces his toughest test yet in tonight’s group 1 Harrison-Dawson final.

He will jump from box 1 and is rated the $2.70 favourite with tab.com.au.

“We’re happy (with the draw), but we’re not confident,” trainer David Geall told RSN’s Racing Pulse.

My Redeemer went through the Launching Pad series in March and was a reserve for the final. He then had a luckless run at Wentworth Park before he strung together five straight wins, with the last of those a red hot 29.12 at Sandown Park. That run earned him a spot in the Bill Collins Speed Star where he defeated Elevated in his match, finishing 3rd overall.

“He’s stepped up quickly over the last month, I don’t usually race my two year olds in open company. But he just went so quick, 29.12, then he went well in the Speed Star.

“So, he’s sort of fast tracked his development.”

Although peaking in confidence on the track, Geall revealed that My Redeemer is still immature around his Lara home.

“He still is a little bit playful and immature. He’s a little bit green in his ways at home, it’s in the breed. We’re hoping he’ll improve over the next few months again, but having said that we’re happy to have a pup that can run 29.12 at Sandown.”

The male greyhound only $145,000 Harrison-Dawson final is race 6 on tonight’s bumper card of greyhound racing.

The night also features the female greyhound only group 1 Sapphire Crown and the world’s richest race for stayers, the $250,000 group 1 RSN Sandown Cup.
