Baden Powell C.C. claim major prize

Baden Powell Cricket Club’s change rooms are set for a face lift after winning $5000 on Sunday courtesy of Sandown Park’s Day of the Dog Club Challenge.

The series not only offers a great day at the dogs, but also gives Club’s the opportunity to fundraise and win cash.

Coen Chernishoff from Baden Powell C.C. was drawn out to take part in the ‘Pick-A-Dog-Box’ game show where he successfully selected the two boxes with the $5000 prize.

“We didn’t plan on coming home with $5000, so it was a bonus for the club. It comes at a good time,” said Coen.

“We’re knocking down and rebuilding our change rooms next year so the money will definitely help with that.”

The popular ‘Day of the Dog’ Club Challenge series is open to all sporting, social and community clubs. In 2017 participating clubs have received over $40,000 in cash and prizes. As well as the financial rewards, members of participating clubs enjoy a great day at the track.

Organising a day out for any sporting or social club can be a challenge, however as Coen from Baden Powell found out, putting together a Day of the Dog Club Challenge day is seamless with the majority of the work done by Sandown.

“It’s great fun. We did it last year and we were one of the first ones onboard for this year. We all enjoyed the day and it was good to go home with a bit extra.

“The whole lead up ran real smoothly, I’d recommend it to any sporting or social club. I’ve already spoken to some mates who haven’t been involved but looking to be apart of it next year.”
