Fair Of Face heads to GOTBA Cup

Laurels finalist Fair Of Face lines up in a heat of the GOTBA Cup tomorrow night at Sandown Park.

Fair Of Face will jump from box 4 in heat 3 and her trainer Peter Craig is optimistic of her chances.

“She’s beginning well and she’s the type of dog that is very hard to catch when leading. She runs pretty straight from box four, the greyhound on her outside should run straight also so she has an opportunity to lead.” said Craig.

Fair Of Face enters the series following two wins on-the-trot at Bendigo.

“She’s fairly young and doesn’t have a lot of experience but she’s starting to get the hang of it. She was getting a bit overexcited early in her career but she’s starting to mature now.”

Craig is president of the NCA (National Coursing Association) and won coursing’s holy grail, the Waterloo Cup, back in 2014.

“Fair Of Face’s half sister won the Waterloo Cup for me, Full Of Grace. I’ve told the boys Fair Of Face has a chance to win some good prize money as she can run a good 500m. I’ve got a big opinion of her and she’s lived up to it so far.”

Fair Of Face is owned by the Amstel Syndicate, made up of Craig and Amstel Golf Club staff members Nathan Tracy and Craig Dexter.

“I used to manage Amstel – Nathan was the head chef and Craig worked for him, they’re good mates.”

The GOTBA Cup is open to Victorian bred greyhounds that have not won a city race and is the feature event on the annual Greyhound Owners, Trainers and Breeders Association of Victoria SupaNite.

The GOTBA SupaNite is the Association’s major fund raising evening. Greyhound owners, trainers and breeders are encouraged to come along and meet the committee in a fun, informal setting.

There will be a tipping competition, lucky seat prizes and two fantastic GOTBA Member raffles – a cash prize of $1000, and a stud service to either Barcia Bale, Fabregas or Fernando Bale courtesy of Meticulous Lodge and Paul Wheeler.

Memberships are available on the night and are just $20 for a single and $30 for a double. To book your seat, please contact the club on 9546 9511 or email youdman@grv.org.au.
