Bring Sexy Back a winner in town

Last night was one to remember for trainer Rebecca Romyn as she snared her second city win with Bring Sexy Back.

Bring Sexy Back began well from box two and gained some early space to settle second. Only sitting a length off the lead down the back straight Bring Sexy Back threatened danger. He went straight by mid race leader Zipping Cash going on to win comfortably by 2 ¾ lengths in 29.90.

“I was so excited – it’s exciting any time they race but when they win it’s a bonus,” said Romyn.

“It was our second city win, our first was with I’m Pumped back in November 2013.”

The triumph was Bring Sexy Back’s first city win from his 26 career starts, 13 of which were run on the Apple Isle.

“We bought him as a pup, he was educated in Victoria then we sent him to Tasmania. His trainer said he’d be much more suited to racing here.”

Romyn has only been involved in greyhound racing for seven years and after working with the highly respected Giles kennel, she has recently taken up training at her own property in Newborough.

“I stopped working with the Giles’ in April after being there for seven or eight years – I learnt so much from them, the way they operate is great.”

Romyn has a relatively small team of chasers in her kennel that live in luxury, however does have intentions to grow.

“Our dogs are treated like pets, they have their own yard and are able to do whatever they like – they are very spoilt.

“I was looking at moving to a bigger property so we can have more dogs, but we’ll what happens.”

Bring Sexy Back’s win was one of many highlights at Sandown Park last night with Benta Bale, Elfen Bale, Xtreme Knocka and Cut Loose Max winning their respective TAB Melbourne Cup Preludes to gain automatic entry into the heats of the world’s richest greyhound race.
