13-year-old claims Launching Pad

Usain I’m Nutty gave young owner Jordan Dailly his biggest thrill in greyhound racing when he claimed the $200,000 Group 2 Razldazl Launching Pad tonight.

DSC_0996 post raceUsain I’m Nutty began well from box 4 to settle second the first time past the post. Looming up down the back straight, Usain I’m Nutty took over around the final bend and accelerated away to win by three lengths in 29.41 seconds.

Trainer Andrea Dailly was delighted with the team’s triumph.

“Once he sat behind the leader I was confident he could win – he’s a very strong dog,” said Dailly.

The Razldazl Launching Pad is unique in that a $2000 entry form is required to nominate for series. Despite not purchasing an entry form in the initial release, Dailly was able to secure an entry form after being put under pressure to nominate Usain I’m Nutty from owner (and Andrea’s son) Jordan Dailly (pictured, right).

“The owner requested we nominate Usain for the Launching Pad,” Dailly laughed.

The 13-year-old owner was ecstatic with Usain’s performance, saying it was one of the best nights of his life.

“It feels really good, this is one of the best nights of my life!”

“He’s the first and only greyhound I’ve ever owned,” said Jordan.

“I wanted to name him Usain and my older brother wanted to call him I’m Nutty, so we agreed on Usain I’m Nutty.”

The win was the eighth of Usain I’m Nutty’s career and catapulted his career prize money beyond $190,000.

Earlier in the night, Azza Azza Azza won the Group Listed Easter Gift from Luca Neveelk and Sisco Rage in 29.65.

Breeder Diane Watt was on hand to witness the greyhound’s second Group race success after claiming the Group 2 Shepparton Cup in February.

“Once he got to the front, we were confident he was going to hold on,” said Watt.

The $25,000 first prize elevated Azza Azza Azza’s prize money total to $147,785.
