Melbourne Cup calling for popular English presenter

Popular Sky Sports presenter Julie Collier will be a guest of honour at this year’s TAB Melbourne Cup.

Collier has spent the past six years covering the sport across England for Sky Sports and hosts a live weekly greyhound program for Racing Post TV.

Julie 1“I’m delighted to be heading to Sandown for the Melbourne Cup, and am looking forward to seeing how the whole industry is run down there,” said Collier.

“The Melbourne Cup is the biggest greyhound race in the world and some of the promotions I’ve seen so far look really exciting. Perhaps we can learn a thing or two in the UK!”

In addition to her work on screen and at the track, Collier is a passionate advocate for greyhound adoption and has raised considerable funds for the Retired Greyhound Trust.

“I have a pet greyhound myself and they make the best pets.

“I’m particularly excited about spending some time learning about the Greyhound Adoption Program which has been so successful in finding home for retired greyhounds.”

While primarily reporting on greyhounds, Julie’s body of work extends to other sports including NBA basketball, soccer, squash and fishing, and is looking forward to combining her passion for sport with the opportunity to travel.

“I love sport and I love to travel so I try to combine those two passions as much as I can. I visited Melbourne about 12 years ago and absolutely loved it – this is an amazing opportunity and I can’t wait to get there!”

The 2014 TAB Melbourne Cup – the world’s richest greyhounds race – will be run on Friday 21 November.
